I’ve been a bit slow on posting reviews of the last couple of Spray Bark, but it’s time to catch up. Overall, the Spray Bark was great, and I have no problem recommending Spray Bark for anyone wanting one.
I LOVE THIS Spray Bark
Help answer the question about Spray Bark
Have you tried the spray bark collar on your dog?
i can't even let my dog outside anymore because the neighbors Spray Bark dog lives outside and my dog and her will bark non stop at each other. I don't want to have to hurt my dog to get him to stop but it sucks that i live in a beautiful climate and can never let my dog hang out outside.

Don’t shout when they bark. they will think you are joining in. Talk calmly to them and say things like quiet in a firm but smooth voice. You could get one of those collars that spray them when they bark, but change the collar when you got to the park. you don’t want your dog getting squirted when other dogs bark!Don’t worry about them not barking if an intruder comes. An animal can tell when somethings not right.
I personally don’t recommend using a bark collar..its a form of whats called positive punishment…with this kind of training you can cause a dog to become fearful and possibly start to show aggression. If you are whiling to…try ignoring the dog when it barks. The main reason why a dog barks is greeting, play, attention-seeking and treat/defence. So you are now taking away attention, play and greeting by ignoring.. Once he/she stops barking then give them treats and attention..reinforce that you want quiet not barking.Always remember things usually get worse before they get better.. So don’t just do it for a few day and think oh its not working. Also consider seeing a trainer.
DuPont & SC Johnson have yet to find a spray for those foul smelling beasts!*toot*’scuse me

it’s lichens and it’s natural and supposed to be there…. don’t spray anything!….http://www.ppdl.purdue.edu/ppdl/weeklypics/1-12-04.htmlon a young tree if you just HAVE TO, it’s not bleach, but copper-sulfate that would be used…. it’s not necessary, however, to remove or prevent this growth!!… actually, it’s a sign of good air quality!!…http://www.gardenopus.com/Lichen.htm
Yes, ditch the spray one and get the Electric one. They work all the time, every time!!If you want results that last and your dog does not figure out how to get out of it, get the real collar!
If you have a persistent barker & traditional training methods like taking the dogs outside on a long lead & giving it a quick, hard collar correction on a prong have failed to snap its attention back to you, then if it was my dog I would invest in a decent no bark collar from Dogtra & not a citrus collar.I was advised by a behaviorist to try a citronella collar on one of my previous dogs who barked at dogs, but the level of correction was too soft & so was not a negative consequence that my dog instinctively wanted to avoid by obeying a command.
Fill an empty soda can with about 20 pennies……..tape the top really good…….If you drink coke then use a Pepsi can…..When a dog barks you tell them “No Bark”…….if he continues……….drop the can………it startles them…..sometimes all it takes then is for you to say “No Bark”…..and sometimes you have to give the command and reach for the can……..This was taught to me when my pooch attended kindergarten. There are collars you can get that will spray something at them instead of shocking them…….I just feel it is too cruel.Lemon is a citric acid and would burn pooch’s eyes.I have a very small dog……….12 years old…….and he is still a horrible 2 year old child……….I crouch down and look him right in the eyes when he is not listening……….and I gruffly tell him “no bark” or “no mouth”……….I have found this is the breed they are very very stubborn……..most people say mine is a lot better then others they have seen……..but I still threaten my poor dog…with…….I am going to turn you into a Collie………Good Luck!!!!!
I haven’t used it, but I have seen it being used. It usually only takes 1-3 barks and they understand. The citronella spray collars is what I have experience seeing. Unfortunately, my dog is really small and they don’t make them small enough for her, or i would use it myself.
You can use two way tape, wrap it around the tree at different levels. Also put something [ insect control] at the bottom of the tree. Also go to Home-Depot or Lowe’s and ask them for help. c.d.
i think you’d better check the recent news.. the nrdc came out with a report of all the really bad chemicals that are in air freshener products…perhaps your dog is reacting to the bad stuff…
Yes the spray collars work (the citronella kind). What else have you tried? How about shaking a soda can full of pennies and telling him no when he howls?
its not the best option. i have a friend of the family who has a bichon frise, and he has a major barking problem. they use the bark color, and its terrible. he seems so miserable.i say watch the dog whisperer, or go to a professional. but if you don’t want to or can’t spend any money, just try walking the dog. it worked for my puppies, regular walking 45min everyday will probably do the trick. as the dog whisperer says, he’s just frustrated and lets out his frustration by barking. exersize him!
The spray is non-toxic and the units are rated for dogs as small as puppies. I’ve been sprayed in the face a few times myself.Be aware that no training tool is going to fix a barking problem by itself. If you are hoping you can put the collar on and have the dog train herself not to bark…it’s not going to happen. These tools are only as effective as the trainer using them. That means you have to be consistent. Each and every time she stops barking, whether it is because she was sprayed or not, you must remember to praise her. Praise for silence is more effective that sprays for barking. The whole purpose of the spray is to interrupt the barking and distract her for that small fraction of a second of silence you need to squeeze in the praise for silence. That’s how it works. If you use it correctly, it can be highly effective. If you use it incorrectly it won’t solve the problem but it also won’t hurt your dog. About all you have to lose is the cost of the system.
Your puppy is barking because the poor thing is bored and needs work to do.Also, at 4 months your puppy has not established dominance, thats your job to show him you are the dominant one, not him. If hes already “dominant” then you are seriously doing something wrong with your training.Work your dog. There are places EVERYWHERE that do herding for fun and herding training for pups and adults, I STRONGLY recommend you getting into that. If you poor little puppy is bored already, you need to do something or this will be a very hard to handle adult. P.S. herding dogs are always hard headed… you just need to be more stubborn… trust me… I breeding herding dogs.
If you feel you NEED a collar, wait until about 12 months. Because of his age and small size, the shock can do serious physical damage and the citronella can affect their senses so strongly he can have a very adverse reaction to it. I don’t recommend a collar to you AT ALL, but it’s your dog… if you need to have a collar to train your dog… something is wrong, but thats your decision, I can only offer my input.Good luck.
put her on a lead/stake outside, if the problem is that she chokes herself get her a harness, they work wonders. Or buy a fence, because one day a car is going to hit her.If you have a fence and the problem is that she’s running up and down it, try giving her toys or a chew bone to distract her when in the yard.
Try giving your dog a Kong stuffed with peanut butter every time you have to leave him.Citronella can be benign, but it can also create a lasting, fearful memory, oddly enough.Try taking your dog on leash with you when you go outside to smoke, or better yet, save some $$ and quit.
I’d invest in some Positive Reinforcement training classes asap, to help your dog gain some confidence and peace of mind.
Every dog is different. Hers might have been allergic or the infection may not have come from it at all. I’ve never heard of any dog having a negative physical reaction to the collars. On a side note, the husky howl is beautiful i couldn’t think of waking up any other way.
I always have a full squirt bottle on the ready. I have yappy chis, a senile lhasa that stalks my pit mix, growling constantly. A huge gsd with a massive baritone bark when strangers come over. Even screeching birds get the wrath on the squirter! No gentle little drizzle, full on water shot to the face while saying sternly NO! Now most of the dogs hear no and see the bottle and shut up.
Return it to the manufacturer and they may replace free of charge it if it is defective.
